Artificial Intelligence Conference co-hosted by O’Reilly and Intel AI, taking place September 4-7 in San Francisco

August 15, 2018 By admin

O’Reilly, the premier source for insight-driven learning on technology and business, today announced new survey findings and usage data that reveal growing trends and topics in artificial intelligence (AI). The results will be explored in a post titled, “3 Promising Areas for AI Skills Development,” as well as at the Artificial Intelligence Conference co-hosted by O’Reilly and Intel AI, taking place September 4-7 in San Francisco.

Following a survey released earlier this year, “How Companies are Putting AI to Work through Deep Learning,” O’Reilly has continued to monitor interest in topics relevant to building AI products and systems, specifically areas that warrant investment in skills development. By examining usage across all content formats on O’Reilly’s online learning platform from January – June 2018, as well as the results of its new survey, “The State of Machine Learning Adoption in the Enterprise,” some of the key findings include:

Alongside Kubernetes and blockchain, machine learning has been a fast-growing, high-volume search topic. Searches for machine learning increased 98% YOY.
Key search topics associated with AI experienced double-digit growth. Top terms included deep learning and neural networks (77%), AI (72%) and machine learning (30%).
User data showed strong growth for interest in reinforcement learning (64%) and PyTorch (53%). In particular, Finance and Banking industry personnel are the top consumers of content in reinforcement learning.
Deep learning and TensorFlow remain areas of strong interest among users of O’Reilly’s online learning platform.
“It’s one thing to learn about an individual technology or a specific class of modeling techniques, but ultimately organizations need to be able to design robust AI applications and products,” said Ben Lorica, chief data scientist at O’Reilly. “As such, we’ve assembled trainings, tutorials, case studies and a world-class lineup of speakers to shed light on these topics at the upcoming AI Conference in San Francisco.”

Lorica, who serves as an AI Conference program chair alongside Naveen Rao (Intel), Roger Chen (Computable Labs) and honorary co-chairs Tim O’Reilly (O’Reilly) and Peter Norvig (Google), has created a conference program that covers important emerging AI techniques and technologies with a focus on real-world implementations. Keynote speakers include executives from leading organizations such as Amazon Web Services, Intel AI and Accenture.

Additionally, O’Reilly and Intel AI will present the new AI Business Summit in conjunction with the conference. The event will provide concise, high-level executive briefings on the most promising developments in AI for business. Attendees will hear detailed case studies of successful AI projects from Google, IBM, Microsoft, Baidu, SAP Concur and more.

Conference registration is now open, and a limited number of media passes are available for qualified journalists and analysts.
